This was a great show. I love their sound because it is so offbeat and a wacky. At one point, the backup singers were playing what looked like spray bottles making pffft sounds.
I saw that they had a few shows in the US last year for the first time in decades and I couldn't believe I missed it. But I got lucky this time. New York is a great place to hear Brazilian music.
If you want to listen to one song by this group, try A Minha Menina. My favorite is actually the song they used for their encore, Panis et Circenses.
The show was in the Lincoln Center Jazz space at 59th and Broadway. It's annoying to get to your seats, and we missed the first song. But the space is a lot better than Carnegie Hall. I still prefer the Beacon, though.
